Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been earned on hardcourt
A revitalized Daniil Medvedev secured his initial trophy for over two years with success over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open final.
Medvedev, a former top-ranked player, has had a difficult season, winning just one win at the big events and experiencing a setback at the US Open.
Medvedev's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his serve in specific - resulted in him dropping out of the top ten and ultimately splitting with former coach Cervara.
Currently training with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, the tennis star has gradually advanced in the past month - culminating in a tightly fought competitive victory over opponent Corentin Moutet.
This marks the player's first championship since the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard court after that period of 2023.
The win also means he has achieved 21 victories at 21 distinct events.
"It's the first time I am participating in a event with my two daughters simultaneously, so to get a trophy is really nice," commented ranked player the champion.
"This championship is in tribute of my younger daughter my daughter, because the maiden victory I won when my first daughter my daughter was delivered was for her."
Medvedev, the past champion, had failed in his past six finals, featuring in Halle previously this season.
Medvedev's defensive play style and frequent outbursts on court had prompted some to wonder if his ability to play at the highest level was over.
Yet the player has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, attempting to approach the net and play positively, supported by an enhanced service.
The champion recovered from a deficit in the initial set against the difficult opponent, taking four of the last five games to go ahead.
The competitors swapped breaks in the second set before the challenger, striving for his first professional title, gained dominance to push for a decider.
Moutet rescued four early break points in a tight third set before the Russian won the break to 15 to serve for the match.
Suitably, Medvedev clinched victory with a shot at the net area, with his opponent unable to handle a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
