'Living a Nightmare': Loved Ones of Unaccounted For Teenagers Await News After Alpine Blaze
The loved ones of teenagers missing after a tragic blaze at a venue in a Switzerland's winter destination are facing an excruciating period of uncertainty for official news and pleading for any details about their children publicly.
The fire ripped through the Le Constellation bar in the alpine resort, located in the Alps of south-west Switzerland, in the early hours of January 1st. Circulated images show the roof structure being engulfed in flames as beverages with fireworks are held aloft.
Emergency services have indicated that it could take days if not weeks to identify the those who perished of the tragedy, which resulted in the death of numerous partygoers and wounded another scores more. Authorities stated on Friday that the majority of the those hurt have been accounted for, with efforts still underway to identify the other six.
In the waiting period, families and friends have been posting on online platforms to plead for clues about their friends who were at the bar that night.
Heartbreaking Pleas for the Missing
The location of teenager from Switzerland Arthur Brodard, sixteen, are not yet determined, according to an appeal from his family.
The resident of Lutry near the city, explained to a local newspaper that she had gone back to the city to see if he was in the hospital, while his other parent did the same in Bern, but did not locate him.
"It feels like a terrible dream, a horror. The options are finding my son in the hospital mortuary, or I find him in a serious state. Words cannot describe it," she told the paper.
She explained that some of his companions had been located with burns covering a significant portion of their bodies. "It's indescribable; they experienced hell."
The Italian government has confirmed that six of its young people are still unaccounted for.
Among them is Emanuele Galeppini, a teenage junior golfer, who hailed from Genoa but now living in the UAE.
The Italian Golf Federation has stated that he is no longer with us, without directly referencing the fire, honoring a "talented young man who carried with him passion and authentic values."
His parent, reportedly stated that his son was at the bar and was last in contact around the new year. An official spokesperson has clarified that a official announcement of his death is still pending.
Further Missing Individuals
Giovanni Tamburi, 16, is also unaccounted for. His parent explained that he had been on holiday but had gone out with a group and ended up at the bar.
"Someone with him said they escaped after the fire broke out and that he had his mobile with him, but then at a specific moment he lost sight of him," she explained, adding he had been wearing a distinctive piece of jewelry.
One of his teachers said, "I remember his kindness and smile, combined with great maturity. Every time ask if get me a coffee."
Alice Kallergis, who holds both Greek and Swiss nationality but lives permanently in the country, was also present on New Year's Eve, according to media.
Her sibling has posted an urgent request online, saying the relatives has had "no updates" regarding the 15-year-old or the three friends she was with, who are also unaccounted for.
Officials from her other nation say they are closely watching the case.
