Making the Citrus Syrup: Put all the components inside a pot, heat until it reaches a light boil, mixing until the sugar dissolves. Then, take off the burner and leave to reach room temperature fully. Transfer to a sterilised bottle, cap it and store chilled, it can be stored for around a month.
To make Cocktail Base: Combine the specified spirits and syrup in a big jug, let it rest for one hour, then strain best through a fine cloth, so it's fully clarified.
For serving: Measure 85ml from the cocktail base into a stirring glass containing ice, and agitate carefully for a minute to chill. Strain to a frosted cocktail glass or similar, top with some cranberries and complete it with a quick spritz with the mandarin essence over the top.
