Chiefs State They Are Aware of Alleged Abuse Allegations Connected to Player Rashee Rice

The Kansas City Chiefs issued a statement on Wednesday evening indicating they have knowledge of claims of abuse made public in online accounts by a ex-partner of player the athlete and had been in communication with the league office.

The organization did not mention Rice specifically in their announcement and said they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Claims Posted on Social Media

The woman, who also did not mention Rice directly, posted a series of photos on Instagram that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. Jones did say the person involved was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has kids with the football player, whom the Chiefs drafted in the 2023 draft.

Official Complaints Reportedly Not on File

No police reports were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the alleged abuse is said to have taken place.

Player's Recent Legal Issues

The receiver missed the first six games of this season following an league-mandated ban for his involvement in instigating a crash on a Dallas highway that left multiple people hurt. He was given a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to felony charges.

On the field, he concluded the year with 53 catches for 571 yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City finished 6-11 and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a ten-year span.
